Core Well Drilling was started in 2024 by cousins Craig Moss and Mark Winstead. One of them had waited more than a year for a well on his own farm. Around the Upstate, drillers were retiring and few new companies were taking their place. The first Core Well Drilling well went in the ground in June 2024.
We drill new water wells for homes, rural land, farms, shops and commercial property. We drill replacement wells when an old well runs dry or fails, and new wells for builders. Farms come to us for irrigation wells, ponds and livestock water. We also set the pump system, the pressure tank and the water line into the house.
Most well drilling jobs start with a site survey before we schedule anything. Our drillers are natives of the Upstate, and the survey helps pick the spot that works best on your land. You get a written estimate after that, with a minimum depth quoted on it. State well standards call for casing set into bedrock, and depth varies lot to lot in the Piedmont.

The estimate quotes a minimum depth for your well. Bedrock depth is not something anyone can see from the surface, so the estimate explains how casing cost can change.
The rig drills through soil and weathered rock into the bedrock below. Casing is set into that rock and grouted, then the well is developed until the water runs clear.
We size the pump to the depth and yield of your well. Then we set the drop pipe, the pitless adapter and the pressure tank. The water line runs to the house and the water comes on.
